Make this delicious Tropical Papaya Smoothie that is packed with vitamins and bright flavors!
Whenever I feel like I am missing a portion of fruit or vegetable, I drink a fruit or fruit and veggie smoothie. Bless whoever invented smoothies!
I’ve got a sweet and fruity smoothie for you to try — Tropical Papaya Smoothie with pineapple and mango. The inspiration behind this recipe came from the one I had when I was in San Francisco which had me thinking about it ever since. It was so refreshing and tasted just like a drink you’d sip out of a tall glass in somewhere warm and sunny, you know, the boozy ones that come with mini umbrellas. ;)
I was in a race against the clock to make use of the rest of a gigantic ripe Maradol papaya I bought from Whole Foods while it was on sale (such a good deal too…the 4-pounder I got was for under $4!) so I decided to blend it up into a tropical paradise in a glass! 0% Greek yogurt is blended with coconut water (my secret weapon for giving it a tropical punch and making it extra tasty), fresh papaya, frozen mango, and frozen pineapple until it is thick, smooth, and perfectly sippable.
I credit the papaya for giving this smoothie such a superb tropical flavor and vibrant color, but when it comes to nutrition, papaya is also an all-star ingredient. Papaya is an excellent source of Vitamins A and C, and it contains an enzyme, papain, which aids in digestion.
The result is a thick, sweet, slightly tangy drink that’s great for breakfast, thirst quencher after a workout session, or a healthier dessert option. Totally your call. Either way, enjoy!
