This easy appetizer is perfect for potlucks and game day get together, with creamy melted brie, crunchy walnuts and tart cranberries all rolled up in crispy puff pastry.
As we plan potlucks and parties, dips always come to mind but sometimes it’s nice to get creative and whip up something a little special. These flaky, savory pinwheels with creamy brie, tart cranberries and crunchy walnuts are just perfect – try whip up a batch and I bet they’ll show up again and again at your potlucks, game day get together, and holiday parties!
These pinwheels are SUPER easy to make. Brush Dijon mustard and honey onto a sheet of storebought puff pastry, top with chopped walnuts, cranberries, and brie, then roll up and cut into thin slices. Pop ’em into the oven until they become golden brown and crispy, and there, you’ve got yourself some amazing, crowd-pleasing appetizers.
By the way, these pinwheels are freezer-friendly. To make a big batch and freeze for later, simply cut back on the cooking time (bake until slightly golden instead of golden brown) and then freeze in an airtight container. When you are ready to serve, reheat them in the oven until they become golden brown, flaky, and crispy.
The key to this appetizer is the California walnuts. I just love it because it’s such a delicious and versatile ingredient that adds flavor, crunch and depth to both sweet and savory dishes. Not only that, they are the champion of plant-based omega-3 among nuts, and are the only nut to provide a significant source of the essential nutrient.
