This appetizing Mediterranean Mezze Platter with a selection of small snacks is meant to be shared and savored. It’s simple, easy to put together, and perfect for holiday entertaining.
One of my favorite time of the year is the holidays. I love to be the hostess, bringing family and friends together, whether it is a for a potluck dinner, cookie decorating party, or casual get-togethers. When I host for the holidays, I always make sure there’s plenty of yummy food.
I’ve been serving lots of vegetable trays and cheese and charcuterie, so I thought it would be nice to switch it up and upgrade my holidays with a delicious mediterranean mezze platter! Mezze takes the party platter to a whole new level of delicious. Everyone helps themselves to whatever they’re craving, and eats till they’ve had their fill.
I tried my first mediterranean mezze platter when we visited Greece this past summer, and loved the idea of having a mix of different light bites for noshing.
If you’re looking for an easy holiday entertaining idea to please a crowd, a mezze platter is the perfect way to go! Fill a platter or a wooden cutting board with your favorite sweet and savory snacks, gather some friends and enjoy.
What is a mezze platter?
Mezze is essentially a variety of Mediterranean appetizers served up in small plates. It can be served as an appetizer or sometimes it makes for a meal on its own. Mezze platters make a great party spread, especially when you’re going to be serving people with a variety of dietary preferences or restrictions.
What to include on a mezze platter?
The best thing about preparing a mezze platter is that there are no strict rules as to what ingredients you can use – feel free to mix and match your favorite Mediterranean bites. I like to keep the preparation to a minimum and use store-bought versions of the staples as much as possible. Here are some easy and yummy ideas:
- Dips: hummus, tzatziki (greek yogurt and cucumber dip), baba ghanoush (eggplant dip)
- Bread and crackers: pita, lavash chips, crackers (I used Blue Diamond Almond Nut-Thins)
- Cheeses: plain or marinated feta, grilled halloumi
- Sweet bites: dried dates, cherries, cranberries, apricots
- Savory bites: roasted nuts, marinated olives or tapenade, roasted red peppers, stuffed grape leaves
Your mezze platter should look balanced with a good variety of ingredients. Add nuts or crackers to fill in any areas that look open.
Perfect snacks for the holidays
For the almonds, I picked up some Blue Diamond Snack Almonds at Walmart for easy entertaining. Roasted and seasoned, these almonds pack a mouthwatering twist for your snacking enjoyment, while it is also a good way to get a handful of the almonds’ nutritional benefits every day.
The variety of flavors are pretty amazing, and there’s something for everyone. My favorites are Sriracha (has just the right amount of heat), Wasabi & Soy Sauce, and Salt ‘n Vinegar.
Supporting Toys for Tots
The holiday season is a also special time of giving. Blue Diamond will be donating a portion of sales to Toys for Tots, so you can eat well while also supporting a great cause.
Be sure to add Blue Diamond Snack Almonds to your weekly grocery shopping or holiday list and pick it up at Walmart to help donate to Toys for Toys this holiday season. It truly makes the holidays more merry and bright!
