Here’s a new twist on a classic fruit sangria, made with sake and an assortment of tropical fruits!

Can you believe summer is over in two days?  Between the out-of-town weddings and vacations we’ve taken in the past few months, it feels as though summer just zoomed by in the blink of an eye.  I figured what better way to start Fall off on the right foot than with a refreshing drink recipe to enjoy throughout the season and beyond.  I bring you this gorgeous and delicious Tropical Fruit Sangria!

Star fruits started showing up in the fruit stands in Chinatown a few weeks back and I couldn’t be more excited to add them to my white wine sangria. If you’ve never eaten these before, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how the cross section slices are shaped perfectly like a star.  They are also crunchy, juicy, and mildly tart.  To complement the flavors of star fruit, I added sweet lychees, pineapples, and mangoes to the mix.

Make sure that you allow this sangria to sit for few hours before serving so that all the flavors come together nicely.  Just like wine, sangria gets better over time.  This is also probably one of the easiest cocktail recipes that I made — it takes minutes to add all of the ingredients to a pitcher and let it sit.  That’s really all there is too it!

This cocktail is refreshing, satisfying, and perfect for just about any occasion.

Pair the drinks with some finger foods like Van’s Kitchen egg rolls which are full of freshly chopped carrots, onions, celery and cabbage and 100% white meat chicken, lean cuts of premium pork or delicious bites of shrimp.  Not only are the egg rolls low in fat and calories, there’s no added MSG which makes them a healthy choice for meals and snacks.
