5-Ingredient Almond Buttercrunch Toffee has a buttery brown sugar crunchy layer, with chocolate and crushed almonds. An easy sweet treat perfect for sharing with others this holiday season!

This post is sponsored by NABISCO, but all opinions are my own.

If you’re looking for a really simple dessert or treat that would be easy to make for a party, or make great holiday gifts for friends, family, or neighbors, these almond buttercrunch toffee come to mind. I hadn’t had them in ages, but I remember my family used to get almond buttercrunch toffee around the holidays. They’re buttery, crunchy, with a delicious coating of chocolate and chopped nuts. It just felt like a really special treat.

I love how these bars have that wonderful toffee taste, but they’re not as brittle and hard as regular toffee. In lots of ways, they remind me of a homemade candy bar that’s sure to be a crowd favorite.

Now that I know how to make them at home, I have no excuse to not make a batch or two and share with friends and family. Plus, having our kitchen filled with the aroma from sweet holiday treats makes our home warmer and cozier!

What ingredients do you need to make this buttercrunch toffee?
The best thing about this recipe is that it only needs 5 ingredients! Which you probably have in your fridge and pantry:

  • Butter
  • Brown sugar
  • Honey Maid Graham Crackers
  • Chocolate chips
  • Chopped almonds (you can also use other chopped nuts, such as pecans, walnuts, or peanuts)

For this recipe, I used Honey Maid Graham Crackers, which have a nice crunch and sweet honey flavor. It’s my go-to ingredient for making this toffee as well as cheesecake, bars, and s’mores of course! As the perfect one-stop shop, you’ll be able to find all of these ingredients at Walmart either in store or via online grocery.

What are some tips to making buttercrunch toffee?
The process for making graham cracker toffee is pretty straightforward, however, a strategic approach and some tried and true tips make for less of a mess and much better tasting and looking results.

  • Parchment paper makes it so much easier to lift the toffee out of the pan for slicing. It’s less messy too.
  • Be sure to stir the butter and brown sugar mixture well while it is simmering, otherwise there could be a separate butter layer on top.
  • Once the chocolate is melted, sprinkle chopped almonds on top and press it down gently with your hand to help the nuts stick to the chocolate.
  • If the toffee doesn’t firm up at room temperature, place it in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
  • It’s easier to cut the toffee into pieces when it is cold (place it in the freezer or refrigerator for a couple of minutes before cutting).

How should the toffee be stored?

It can be made up to one week ahead of being gifted or consumed. After that they tend to lose their freshness. Store in an air-tight container in a cool, dry area.

How should the toffee be packaged?

The toffee pieces look beautiful displayed in cellophane bags, with a few in each, tied with a fun ribbon. You could also place them in decorative holiday cookie tin.

I hope you get to try this quick and easy 5-ingredient toffee recipe soon! Sharing with people we love is, after all, it’s what the holidays are really about. What recipes are you making to share with friends and family this holiday season?

Ingredients

  • 15 sheets Honey Maid Graham Crackers
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped almonds

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • Line a 11 x 15-inch baking sheet with parchment paper (or coat well with cooking spray). Arrange graham crackers in a single layer, breaking into smaller pieces if necessary, so that they fit.
  • In medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add brown sugar and stir to combine. Continue cooking until the mixture reaches a boil, stirring constantly. Let the mixture boil for about 2 minutes, then remove from heat and pour over graham crackers. Bake for 6 minutes or until the butter mixture is bubbly.
  • Remove baking sheet and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly on top of the graham crackers. Let sit for a few minutes until the chocolate is melted, then use a spatula to spread the chocolate in an even layer. Sprinkle almonds on top of the melted chocolate.
  • Let sit at room temperature for about an hour, then cut and serve.
