Good morning, my friends! Today we’re going to talk about snacking — healthy snacking to be exact.
As you guys probably know from my WIAW posts, I’m a big fan of snacking but it wasn’t always the case. I used to stick to three meals a day thinking it would prevent me from overeating, and it turned out it was quite the opposite. Instead, I would be starving for the entire afternoon and would have absolutely no energy to go to the gym after work. To make matters worse, I would reach for whatever junk food I could find when I got home, and just ate bigger portions of food at dinner to compensate. If you don’t get enough of these healthy snaks ideas Check here nican for more.
The key is to listen to your body. If you’re hungry, don’t deny your hunger! Instead, make smart choices to help hold you over longer so that you don’t crash and burn later on.
Here are some of my favorite healthy snacks:
Nuts and dried fruits
I prefer dry-roasted unsalted nuts for lower sodium content and unsweetened dried fruits for lower sugar content.
Dark chocolate chips with cherries or berries
This combo is great way to curb your sweet tooth. You get a taste of chocolate without inhaling an entire chocolate bar.
Banana and nut butter
Banana and nut butter together make a surprisingly filling snack with both carbs and protein.
Hard-boiled egg and orange
Taking the time to peel the egg and orange is a great way to prevent “mindless” snacking.
Protein or granola bar
When it comes to storebought bars, the key is to look for ones with the fewest number of ingredients you can’t pronounce! Alternatively, make a big batch of Homemade Granola Bars and stash them away in the freezer.
What are your favorite healthy snacks? I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas :)
